A pencil sketch. A napkin drawing. An inked illustration you've had scanned. I redraw it properly in Illustrator without flattening the life out of it.
The risk with digitising hand-drawn work is that it comes back sterile — every line the same weight, every curve mechanically smooth, and the thing that made it feel hand-made gone. I work the other way. Line weight varies where you varied it, the wobble that gives a mark its character stays, and only the genuine mistakes get corrected. What changes is that it becomes infinitely scalable and ready for production.

Anything not covered here, just ask. I reply within one working day.
How good does my sketch need to be?
Rough is fine. A clear photo of a pencil drawing gives me everything I need. What helps most is knowing which lines are deliberate and which are working-out, so tell me if there’s anything in the sketch you didn’t mean to keep.
Will it still look hand-drawn?
That’s the point, and it’s the main thing I check. I keep varied line weight and the natural irregularity of the original. If you’d prefer it cleaned up into something more geometric, say so and I’ll take it that way instead.
Can you add colour to a black-and-white sketch?
Yes. I’ll usually deliver the line version first so you can approve the shapes, then apply colour. If you have palette references, send them at the start.
I drew it, but I'm not a designer. Will you tell me if it won't work?
Yes, during the free review and before you pay. Common issues are detail too fine to survive embroidery, or a shape that stops reading at small sizes. I’ll explain what needs adjusting and why.
Other things I do
Not quite what you need? One of these may fit better.
